A Very Special Occassion

March 6, 2010 was a very special occassion. Spencer was baptized.


Spencer was baptized by his dad, which was a really neat thing for Tony because it was his first time baptizing someone.


I put together a little presentation after the baptism, giving Spencer a "treasure box" that he could keep his most prized treasures in. We talked about the types of treasures that are real and lasting and are the most important things in life.

In his box we put pictures of himself,because of how special he is, and that he should always treat himself as a treasure, to do all that he can to keep himself clean and pure and following the example of Jesus Christ.

We put in pictures of him with his brothers and talked about how important it is to treat your brothers like you want to be treated, to be a good example to them, and to love them and be there for them his whole life.

We had a picture of his whole family, and talked about how all family is part of his treasure and the special connection we all have and the need to be there for each other.

There was a picture of Christ, and we talked about the relationship with your Heavenly Father and Jesus Christ is a very special treasure, and to always try to keep that strong and exercise faith in them.

Lastly, I presented him with his own special scriptures that are his to use throughout his life. We embossed his name on the front, and we talked about how the Word of God that is found in the scriptures will always be a treasure to help him in his life, no matter what happens. Spencer has been good about reading in his new scriptures and marking verses that are special to him. I'm very proud of him for his desire to learn and grow in faith. He is a remarkable young man.


Spencer asked his Grandpa Kidman to confirm him a member of he church and give him the Gift of the Holy Ghost. This was a special thing for both Spencer and Grandpa. It reminded me of my baptism when I asked my Grandpa Kidman to confirm me after my dad had baptized me too. I've always felt that was very special. We are so glad that they were able to come up and spend this special day with us. We had other family and even a good friend of Tony's drove up from Utah for the occassion. What a great day!
